Spring is upon us, and we are moving towards 2024’s peak construction season. We are happy to wave goodbye to the snow, sleet, ice, and freezing temperatures and welcome the warmer weather and longer days!

As we move into peak season, we are embarking on two big jobs that will run into the fall and winter months. Both jobs will leverage our expertise in highway construction and underground utility installation.

Casper Streets Underground Utilities Project

There was no waiting for Spring to get started on this underground utilities project. We kicked off the venture in mid-February and expect to work on this project year-round. The job involves installing approximately 3,100 lineal feet of 18 to 78-inch reinforced concrete storm pipe as well as water and sewer pipe (schedule 80 PVC or above material).

We will also be pouring approximately 3,550 lineal feet of curb and gutter and approximately 2,000 linear feet of sidewalk. When all is said and done, we will have poured 10,300 yards of concrete to complete the job.

Montana Highway Reconstruction

We’re kicking off the Spring with a fairly large highway reconstruction project for the Montana Department of Transportation (MDOT) west of Sidney and Lambert, MT. The Highway 200 reconstruction project is 10.8 miles long and involves moving nearly 875,000 yards of earth using scrapers and side dump trucks. Following behind the dirt crew, pipe crews will install roughly 4,500 lineal feet of reinforced concrete pipe (CMP) ranging in diameter anywhere from 24 inch pipe to 20 foot box culverts.

WIth a completion date of November 30, this project has a tight construction timeline and requires significant manpower and a large fleet of construction equipment.

Preparing for These Projects During Peak Construction Season

To prepare for these important heavy civil projects, we have broadened our team, enhancing our highly skilled crews with experienced tradesmen that specialize in concrete pouring and finishing.

Bringing in specialty crews and combining them with our experienced excavator operators and pipelayers enables us to take on larger, more complex jobs while meeting tight turnaround times and continue to deliver the results we’re known for—high quality results delivered safely, on time, and on budget.
